I just got BL3 from that Best Purchase Deal of the Day sale and I'm non sure which character to choose. I'yard going to be playing entirely by myself.

Which of the iv characters is best suited for that? Are sure characters harder or easier to play than others?

  • #ii
I've been enjoying it as Zane, I'thou nevertheless like ane/three through.
Fleet of Foot
  • #iii
I don't know if Zane is the best, but I played him all the way through and had no trouble soloing.
The Gold Hawk
  • #iv
I'd recommend FL4K.

I've always found whatsoever character with summons to be the easiest for solo play like Gaige (with the possible exception of Nisha in the pre-sequel)

Amara is by far the near powerful. Zane is really skilful but a lot of his builds are pretty reliant on a grade mod from DLC1, so unless y'all get the DLC he might exist a chip tough. Flak is probably the highest single target damage in the game, and Moze is probably the weakest. That being said yous can become through the game merely fine with whatever of them.

I played first time through with Moze, hated information technology. Ironbear simply didn't do the impairment i thought. Doing it now with Fl4k and having more fun.

They're all pretty solo friendly actually. I main FL4K and I've plant them to be great for solo play. Simply depends how you spec your grapheme.

Is there a specific "best build" to use for each character or will I exist fine but winging information technology?
  • #x
FL4K's pretty solo friendly, 1 of their skills makes it that their pet can revive them during FFYL. Zane's good also, but he does rely on a class modernistic from the start DLC for a lot of his builds.

I went with FL4K (the pet class) and had a good fourth dimension. Well, until the game started to feel more like busywork, anyway.

I mean, once y'all go to TVHM and max level finish game with mayhem modifiers you lot probably want a decent build but you'll probably exist fine merely winging it through the story. If yous desire some builds bank check out Moxsy and Joltzdude139 on youtube (Thiccfila besides for purely zane stuff)

game is extremely piece of cake to beat out with Moze and the mech bear.

Only wing it tbh.

Can I alter my build at whatsoever time?

All characters are viable for solo play. You can play through the whole main game and they will all do fine. Endgame is another affair if you programme on diving into the Commotion modes and forming specific builds to survive those modes.

FL4K seems like a pretty platonic grapheme for a solo player given they come with a pet companion to fight alongside them. That said, in endgame the pet does fuck all (unless recent updates improved them, but terminal I check, they're pretty useless) and FL4K ends up excelling in other ways instead.

Zane can be skillful for solos since the hologram and drone make for good support. But Zane doesn't age too well in the endgame, and has fewer feasible builds available to him compared to the others. Still good if you know what to look for.

Amara is hands down the most powerful with the largest variety of powerful builds to play.

Moze is also quite powerful with a handful of her own builds. Only don't await the mech to be your main tool.

Ultimately, they're all good. Information technology'southward but a affair of which play style y'all're looking for.

Can I change my build at whatever time?

Yes.

I e'er play equally the Siren, but even then, I thought Amara did well solo. I recall I remember more than one skill that would progressively heal when you practice damage which always helps.

It'south been a while, then I'd need to check on that though. Could be incorrect.

  • #18
I haven't played since it first came out but at the time. Amara was the most powerful, but FL4K was the most solo friendly because of summon options.

Zane is fine all the mode and meh at the cease.

Maze is tough at the start and actually high DPS at the stop.

They're all solid for solo play if you boost up their survivability at first.

Here's another question: which character is the all-time written/has the best voice acting? Are they all annoying or does that but use to the non-player characters?

Zane becomes pretty OP later with his Decoy and Drone.

I institute Amara to exist very well equipped for solo play with the skill that grasps one enemy in place and and then shares all impairment to that enemy with all surrounding enemies...
Nearly crowds only melt with high charge per unit of fire weapons.

Hither's some other question: which character is the best written/has the best voice acting? Are they all annoying or does that simply utilise to the non-player characters?

The principal cast is good, but I volition say Moize is the nigh reserved. She Is merely kinda sarcastic.

Zane is definitely my favorite for vox acting. Honestly though, they don't have that many lines

I had a lot of fun with Zane, his mix and friction match activity skills are interesting. The clone takes the heat off you and basically acts like a turret and the shield... well it shields.
BL games are generally well balanced for solo play on standard difficulties.

Amara is really stiff. All here builds work for solo play, I did that all the style through getting 100% no problems.

They're all decent enough in their dialogue and have some overnice quips throughout the story (it'south all their dialogue really amounts to). Well voice acted. Moze may exist the least interesting of the bunch in this regard.

I ultimately wouldn't choose them based off of this sort of stuff, though. It'southward a very small part of the characters that you will hardly notice.

I leveled Flakk first, only I hear with the balance patches Zane is the current male monarch.

Played Amara and farmed a lot with her, never had whatsoever trouble in solo content

Played through information technology all the fashion very recently, Moze was farrrr easier than some of the others for me (Fl4k and Amara). Iron Behave shreds through bosses I was having trouble with on Co-Op.

Here'due south another question: which character is the all-time written/has the best vox acting? Are they all annoying or does that just apply to the not-role player characters?

ProZD did the voice acting for FL4K and they accept some actually hilarious lines.

As well similar Zane'southward VA too

Zane with DLC1 grade mod, high rate of burn guns, shield, drone, and ammo steal artifact is basically invincible on any mayhem mode. All characters are potent plenty for anything, with Moze having the to the lowest degree survivability generally, but the latest changes have helped somewhat. Moze's robot does non scale properly for high mayhem levels and is not suited to get any utilize out of many gun, grenade and shield annointments. I started with Moze, migrated to Amara and concluded sticking with Zane afterward the DLC1 course mod buffed him.

  • #33
All of them, honestly. I solo'd with Moze and I was basically unstoppable. It isn't until post-game content that you may detect sure characters defective, only I'm pretty sure even so they're all viable.

Honestly Amara.

She has the best crowd control past far with "ties that bind" every bit the numbers of enemies volition be the biggest concern on solo. And she has an ability that lets her instantly get back upward when downed once every ii minutes.

Fl4ks pet can revive him only it's not like earleir games. Yous don't become downed every bit much.

Here's some other question: which character is the best written/has the best vocalisation interim? Are they all abrasive or does that just employ to the non-thespian characters?

not FL4K. I'm about xc% through the campaign (I remember), and his lines are so boring and generic. It sucks playing solo because it gets so alone.

When in doubtfulness, pick a Siren.
Dunlop
  • #37
Shell it with Fl4k and Zane, preferred Zane.

I'm normally 100% about Sirens but merely did not like the melee version so I did not give Amara enough of a take a chance

I played Moze solo.

Honestly, I recollect all choices are viable.

Yeah, Moze'southward ability was a great "Oh Shit!" button and gave my shields (And health if I've got regen) a adventure to recharge. Moze and FL4K (using them for my co-op run) are pretty damn absurd also. I dearest their lines, even if it'south pretty obvious that their lines don't actually matter.

I like zane the most since eventually his clone can use your gun information technology can be very useful to give him a shield weapon then bandy to whatever else you'd need.

I'm not sure how Zane is at present afterward they buffed him repeatedly, only Fl4k can exist revived by their pet so for solo I recommend them.

I similar all the player characters tbh. Amara is basically just "I'm tough and I like to punch things and I'm a celebrity", Zane is "I'g an Irish hitman and witty and quick on my anxiety", Moze is your typical cynical soldier except with a giant deport mech and FL4K is a non-binary robot huntsman voiced by ProZD.

Zane has my favorite personality imo

FL4K, without a doubt.

I got a Zane to level lxx and I still had problems with the later content compared to my co-op friend who played FL4K. The disparity was and so bad information technology pretty much made me quit the game. He could kill Graveward on Mayhem 3 in less than ten seconds, while I had to play the whole fight out through every phase.

My honest opinion: All things said, BL3 wasn't a very skilful game. I feel like my time spent with it would have been better spent with a number of other games.

Here'southward some other question: which character is the best written/has the best voice acting? Are they all annoying or does that just use to the non-thespian characters?

Every unmarried character and NPC is terribly written, and the vocalism interim but grates on you. I turned the volume off and went to total subtitles afterwards about xx hours in.

EDIT: The last fourth dimension I played was final October. Mayhap things have changed since then, I don't know.

non FL4K. I'm about xc% through the campaign (I think), and his lines are and so boring and generic. Information technology sucks playing solo because information technology gets and then lonely.

Strongly disagree on that. "Pocket rakks!" never gets old.
